Self-adhesive transition strips, however, are generally not a good idea. They are low-strength, don’t last very long and they cannot be maintained or repaired.

What we install
We use solid wood or metal transition strips that can be fixed directly to the floor. Unlike self-adhesive strips, these will not warp or break easily.

Cost factor
The difference in cost between self-adhesive PVC transition strips and wood or metal ones is small; usually a couple of euro per length.
When you factor in the fact that self-adhesive PVC strips last one-to-three years, and wood or metal ones can last decades, the more cost-effective option is wood or metal.
How to decide between wood or metal
Wooden transition strips can be used throughout the home. We recommend metal in areas where you may have water on the floor, such as on kitchen tiles, and in areas that might need very regular cleaning.
There are many options to choose from in terms of wood finishes. Metal transition strips typically come in chrome and brass finishes.
