How to power wash your driveway and footpaths

Power washing is a great way to renew a surface and blast away weeds

Power washing (or power cleaning) is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to renew a hard surface.

To make sure you make the job as easy as possible for yourself, here are some tips from Handyman Clonakilty:

  1. invest in a lance that is designed for cleaning hard surfaces ( using the softer spray, like the one you would use on your car, is going to make the job harder);

  2. sweep up leaves, dirt, debris etc. as much as possible before you start or you risk making the job harder and clogging your drains;

  3. keep moving the lance side-to-side or you risk damaging the surface;

  4. be mindful of removing paint off walls or dislodging mortar that is keeping things in place;

  5. if dirt gets blasted onto walls, garden furniture, wheelie bins, your front door etc, swap out the lance for a soft-spray one and gently clean down the surfaces; and

  6. know where you want all the water to drain and work towards that spot.

At Handyman Clonakilty, we power wash all kinds of surfaces, including driveway, patio and roof, using eco-friendly and careful methods.
