invest in a lance that is designed for cleaning hard surfaces ( using the softer spray, like the one you would use on your car, is going to make the job harder);
sweep up leaves, dirt, debris etc. as much as possible before you start or you risk making the job harder and clogging your drains;
keep moving the lance side-to-side or you risk damaging the surface;
be mindful of removing paint off walls or dislodging mortar that is keeping things in place;
if dirt gets blasted onto walls, garden furniture, wheelie bins, your front door etc, swap out the lance for a soft-spray one and gently clean down the surfaces; and
know where you want all the water to drain and work towards that spot.
